Written by Administrator
Traveling around Europe with the “All Different All Equal” campaign in the last year, I had a chance to see many slogans written on the walls of the big and small urban settings. Some of these writings are colorful and bright others dull and ugly. Many of these writings, unfortunately, not very inspiring and some advocating negative, racist, or sexist slogans. Most of the graffiti is done illegally, but some incorporated into our public space that usually, is taken over by consumer directed advertising.

Written by Manevski Stefan

The Center for Intercultural Dialogue has organized the first edition of Urban Youth Corner on the 16 July 2007 in the multiethnic town of Kumanovo. The organizing team included the graffiti event and a local DJ music show. After a discussion about the main message the young graffiti artists suggested that “PEACE” can be a topic for the graffiti at the Urban Corner. Pressured by the political instability and living in a multiethnic region, where intercultural and inter-religious clashes are pat of everyday life, this message proposed by the young multiethnic team of Macedonians, Albanians, Roma and Serbs fully reflected the desires of youth in the area. In order for this message to be seen by everyone the organizing team has decided to make the graffiti on the cinema wall in the center of the city.
